Family Law
When many people think of family law, they think of divorce. However, although divorce is a major component of our practice, family law includes many other issues as well. We have represented clients in juvenile court, domestic violence cases, name changes and legitimation. Legitimation is a legal process that allows a biological father to establish rights to his child.
Divorce
Our office has handled hundreds of divorce cases over the last 28 years. These cases involve division of marital property, alimony and issues concerning any children of the marriage.
Child Custody and Support
We have represented many clients who sought to obtain custody of their children and adequate child support, and have helped them obtain modifications of the original awards when circumstances have changed over time. Our attorney, J. Patrick Claiborne, is familiar with the new Georgia child support guidelines and can help navigate you through them. If you're a parent entitled to receive child support, he will aim, to ensure you get all the financial help you need and deserve.
Probate and Estate Litigation
Our attorney has represented the interests of people dealing with both uncontested and contested wills. In most instances, the family members of a recently departed person abide by the terms of the will out of respect for their loved one's wishes. However, occasionally a relative who feels entitled to more than what the will provides may challenge the legitimacy of the will, on the grounds that the person who died was either incompetent or under the undue influence of another family member. In these situations, we have represented family members trying to uphold the will and its terms.
We're committed to customer service: we return phone calls promptly, offer weekend and evening meetings by appointment, and se habla espanol.
